Another green energy failure: FBI investigating company which was supposed to install hundreds of charging stations for electric cars in 20 U.S. areas

The handful of electric car owners in Chicago will have to wait for their "filling stations".

There seems to be no end to the failures in the "green" energy business. The latest greenie flagship project to fail is the "rollout" of hundreds of chargaing stations for electric cars in Chicago and 19 other U.S. areas.

In February 2011 there were enthusiastic media reports about a bright new future for the miniscule number of electric car owners in Chicago and 19 other U.S. regions:

Chicagoans soon will be able to juice up their electric cars at charging stations at Willis Tower, five local tollway oases, O’Hare and Midway airports and at select I-GO, Zipcar, grocery store and shopping mall parking lots.
That futuristic scenario will become reality later this year, as electric cars reach dealerships and as San Diego, Calif.-based company 350Green installs 280 electric vehicle charging stations throughout the region.=

The rollout is funded by $1 million in federal stimulus money, plus $1 million from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. 350Green invested $6.9 million to cover the upfront costs.

To years later, not one of the charging stations is functioning, and the FBI is investigating the 350 Green project. The FBI declined to comment, but it seems clear that the $1 million in federal stimulus money, plus $1 million from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity have gone down the drain - and God knows how many millions of public money have been lost on the other 19 similar projects elsewhere:
Several hundred charging stations were supposed to have been installed by 350Green before the end of 2011, but work stopped some time ago, the company said. Projects by the company in 19 other markets also have been halted. -

Two Chicago-area contractors working on the project, and others with direct knowledge of the situation, told the Tribune the FBI has been examining the 350Green project. The status of the investigation isn't clear. The FBI declined to comment.
Hundreds of pages of documents obtained by the Tribune under the Freedom of Information Act show that 350Green submitted copies of checks to the city in order to receive state and federal grant money.
The checks show contractors were paid. But three contractors contacted by the Tribune said they hadn't received those checks and had been paid only a portion of what they were owed overall. In the hope of getting reimbursed, some have filed liens against retailers that agreed to host charging stations.

Russian opposition leader Navalny knows why Putin and his cronies want to jail him: "They've stolen billions ... they are protecting themselves"

The show trial against Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny will begin next week in the city of Kirov. Navalny, who is falsely accused of stealing logs, sawdust and 16m roubles from a company, knows very well why Vladimir Putin has ordered the trial:

Why does Putin want to jail me? (I have no doubts that he personally has ordered my case). It seems to me the logic is obvious: he and his circle must guard their power. And to stay in power they have no other mechanism than jailing people – which is what they are doing. I'm not the first and, unfortunately, will not be the last: we must be ready for the fact that they will jail many more people. They've stolen billions, they know people are outraged by this, that millions of people share my attitude towards them and they are protecting themselves.
Look what's happening in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan: everywhere the method is the same. Putin takes his example from Lukashenko,NazarbayevKarimov. And that's how it will be in Russia as long as they are allowed to jail people, as long as a million people don't go out into the streets. The first protest on Bolotnaya Square scared them – they announced political reforms, then turned on the fear and PR techniques, people started getting scared to go to protests and then the reforms were first stopped, then subverted. As long as they are not really scared, they will continue to jail people.

New study debunks another greenie propaganda slogan: Fracking does NOT cause any significant earthquakes

Another of the envirofundamentalist greenies' favorite propaganda slogans, "fracking causes dangerous earthquakes" has now been debunked:
Hydraulic fracturing used to access oil and gas from rock and shale hasn’t caused “significant” earthquakes, according to a study by Durham University.
“Hydraulic fracturing is not a significant mechanism for inducing felt earthquakes,” Richard Davies, director of the U.K. university’s energy institute, said today in a statement. “The size and number of felt earthquakes caused by fracking is low compared to other manmade triggers such as mining, geothermal activity or reservoir water storage.”
The new study is of course a bitter pill to swallow for groups like Greenpeace:
Tremors aren’t the only concern about the method, known as fracking, according to a Greenpeace statement. “Communities have also expressed concern about noise, disruption, traffic, falling house prices and a general industrialization of the English countryside,” Lawrence Carter, an energy campaigner for the environmental group, said in the statement.
It is interesting to see Greenpeace suddenly interested in noise, falling house prices and the preservation of the English countryside. These same greenies have no problem with all this when it comes to filling the English countryside with thousands of noisy, bird killing, ineffective and ugly wind turbines.

Congratulations to the Finnish National Police Board: Vladimir Putin on Finland's criminal blacklist (officially by mistake)

Putin as a KGB agent.

The Finnish National Police Board is to be congratulated for putting Vladimir Putin on a secret criminal register, which according to news agency AP could have theoretically gotten him arrested at the border. Of course everybody from the Interior Minister Päivi Räsänen downwards have apologized for the "mistake" - and the formal reason why Putin's name was added to the list is perhaps not the most convincing one. It is, however, widely known that Putin is a criminal dictator, who should be jailed, both inside and outside of the mafia state he has created.
Finnish police say the Russian president's name was mistakenly placed on a secret criminal register that could theoretically have gotten him arrested at the border.
TV station MTV3 reported Wednesday that Putin was placed there for his contact with Russian motorcycle gang Night Wolves, though he wasn't suspected of a crime in Finland. But National Police Board spokesman Robin Lardot told the AP the listing was a mistake and that Putin's name was removed from the list.
"The National Police Board has investigated the case and indeed found that such a mistaken entry was in the register," Lardot told The Associated Press. "We have ordered it to be removed and are investigating the case very thoroughly. We don't know how it got there." He declined further comment.

Finnish YLE television has some additional information:
According to the MTV3 programme "45 minuuttia", the NBI suspected that Putin might have contributed to organised crime, citing his links to a motorcycle gang. The addition of his name to the list took place last November, shortly after Putin gave an award to a leader of a motorcycle club called the Night Wolves.
However, the NBI told Yle that it did not have any ongoing investigations where the Russian head of state was suspected of any crime.

Admiral Locklear, head of U.S. Pacific Command, forced to interrupt his climate change planning activities because of North Korea

Last month admiral Samuel Locklear, commander of U.S. Pacific Command said that climate change tops the list of security threats for his fleet and that he is "increasingly focused" on it:

Locklear said his Hawaii-based headquarters — which is assigned more than 400,00 military and civilian personnel and is responsible for operations from California to India, is working with Asian nations to stockpile supplies in strategic locations and planning a major exercise for May with nearly two dozen countries to practice the “what-ifs.” --

[W]hen it comes to pragmatic military planning, Locklear said he is increasingly focused on another highly destabilizing force.

“The ice is melting and sea is getting higher,” Locklear said, noting that 80 percent of the world’s population lives within 200 miles of the coast. “I’m into the consequence management side of it. I’m not a scientist, but the island of Tarawa in Kiribati, they’re contemplating moving their entire population to another country because [it] is not going to exist anymore.”

It must have been extremely difficult for the admiral to interrupt his climate threat planning activities in Hawaii for a brief interlude in the Congress today

Adm. Samuel Locklear, commander of U.S. Pacific Command, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that Kim Jong Un, the country's young and still relatively untested new leader, has used the past year to consolidate his power.
The admiral said Pyongyang's pursuit of nuclear weapons and long-range ballistic missiles represents a clear threat to the United States and its allies in the region.
During an exchange with Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., Locklear said the U.S. military has the capability to thwart a North Korean strike, but he said a decision on whether a missile should be intercepted should be based on where it is aimed and expected to land.
How reassuring that admiral Locklear considers North Korea at least  a "clear threat", although of course a very minor one compared to the huge threat of climate change, on which he is "increasingly focused".

New warmist simulation study: "Climate change will lead to bumpier transatlantic flights"

The UK climatologists must have spent many an hour at the wheel of their secret simulator.

Here comes the latest news from the wonderful world of climate simulators:

Two UK scientists, who must have received a lot of funding for their simulation games, conclude that global warming will make their flights to climate gatherings in exotic places like Bali and Cancun a lot bumpier (although not before 2050):

Our results suggest that climate change will lead to bumpier transatlantic flights by the middle of this century. Journey times may lengthen and fuel consumption and emissions may increase. Aviation is partly responsible for changing the climate9, but our findings show for the first time how climate change could affect aviation.

Climate scientists Paul D. Williams (National Centre for Atmospheric Science, Department of Meteorology, University of Reading) and Manoj M. Joshi (School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia) are already looking forward to their next groundbreaking, lavishly funded project, "The influence of climate change on train delays on the London Tube in the mid 21 century"

Margaret Thatcher (1925 - 2013) - The greatest 20th century peacetime Prime Minister in Britain

Margaret Thatcher, Baroness Thatcher, (1925 - 2013)
"We have not successfully rolled back the frontiers of the state in Britain only to see them re-imposed at a European level, with a European superstate exercising a new dominance from Brussels."
Margaret Thatcher, 1988

Margaret Thatcher, the last member of the trio Reagan, John Paul II and Thatcher, who destroyed Soviet Communism and its Evil Empire, died today.

This quote from the cover of Thatcher's speechwriter John O'Sullivan's book "The President, the Pope, and the the Prime Minister", says it all:

"Not only did Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, and Karol Wojtyla (the future John Paul II) rise to the top, but all three of them  also survived assassination attempts, collaborated in the miraculous peaceful liberation of Eastern Europe from Soviet Communism, and reinvigorated their respective countries and the West. They were beacons of optimism cutting through the malaise and despair that afflicted 1970s America, strike-ridden post-imperial Britain, and a Catholic Church rocked by social and  sexual revolutions."

Thatcher was forced to leave office as a result of a political coup in her own party. Those politicians who contributed to her downfall should be ashamed of what they did.

The fact of the matter is that Thatcher was right about all the important issues she had to deal with, particularly the question of Britain's relationship with Europe.

Even David Cameron, who used to take pride in distancing himself from Margaret Thatcher and her policies, has now finally realized that Britain needs the kind of new, looser relationship to Europe that Thatcher espoused.

Topless demonstrators welcome Putin in Hannover: "Fuck dictator"!

At this stage everything went as planned. Angela Merkel smiled together with the dictator. However, a few minutes later, things changed ...

This morning Vladimir Putin received the welcome he deserved when he and his host Angela Merkel were touring the Hannover Fair. When the couple had left the Volkswagen stand, several topless female demonstrators with the message "fuck dictator" written on their breasts closed in on Putin.

Russian opposition leader: Putin should be jailed

This man will sooner or later end up in jail.

It is widely known that Russia's ruler, former second rate KGB spy Vladimir Putin, is a corrupt criminal, who has enriched himself and his friends enormously during his time as "president" and "prime minister". Opposition leader and anti-corruption blogger Alexei Navalny, who is now facing purely politically motivated charges, has a clear view about what should be done with the dictator:

"I want to become president," Navalny told Internet and cable TV channel Dozhd late on Thursday. "I want to change the way people live in this country, I want to change the system of government in this country."

He said he would do to all he could to see Putin and wealthy businessmen with longstanding ties to the president jailed. "For me they are all links in the chain of loathsome, thieving authorities," he said.
The earlier Putin is jailed, the better for the people of Russia, who deserve democratic and civilized leadership after so many years of communism and KGB mafia rule.

Angela Merkel's most important energy transition allies are deserting her: “The entire energy switch has derailed"

Angela Merkel's most important energy allies are deserting her failed energy  transition  project.

It is now clear that Angela Merkel's flagship energy transition project - "die Energiewende" - has derailed. Two of the Merkel's most important allies, energy utility operators EON and RWE are deserting the sinking ship

Chancellor Angela Merkel is losing support from her two biggest allies in the utilities industry as their mounting debt prompts a retreat from renewable-power expansion, undermining her $700 billion program to reshape Germany’s energy market.

EON SE and RWE AG are reducing clean-power spending for the first time since 2009 to cut a combined 69 billion euros ($88 billion) in debt and curb costs. That limits funds for offshore wind energy, the centerpiece of Merkel’s plan to replace all atomic reactors by 2022 and triple renewables’ share by 2050.
With consumer power bills increasing and Merkel facing elections in September, Germany’s energy policy is rising on the political agenda. The cost of developing wind farms in the North Sea has surged following construction glitches and delays in linking turbines to the grid.
“The entire energy switch has derailed,” Marc Nettelbeck, an analyst at DZ Bank AG, said this week by phone from Frankfurt. “The difficulties connecting offshore wind farms to the power grid reduces their profitability and renders the original investment calculations of utilities invalid.”
The problem for the Germans is that the main opposition parties are even more under the spell of the great green hoax. Thus a new government after the September elections would in reality mean a change from bad to worse. Although the German economy is still fairly strong, the future is not looking great, unless the failed energy transition policy is reversed.
